Free and local, but built to serve your screen history to AI coding agents over MCP. Great for devs — different job than ours.

A meeting notetaker, not a screen recorder — it only listens during calendar calls. Worth knowing before you compare it to a rewind tool.

Choose EvaMind if…
- You want calls and meetings captured, not just the screen — mic and system audio together.
- You want your recordings to stay on your own disk.
- You want to try it before paying, and one flat price after.
- You're on a Mac and recording your own activity.
Choose something else if…
- LUCI — you're a developer who wants Claude Code or Cursor to have your work context. It's free and purpose-built for that; we don't do it.
- Littlebird — you need Windows, mobile, web access, team seats, or app integrations, and you're fine with cloud storage.
- Screenpipe — you're comfortable self-hosting and want to build your own pipes and integrations on top of your screen data.
- Granola — you only need notes on calendar meetings, not a continuous record of your screen and everything else.
- Any of them — you're not on macOS. EvaMind is Mac-only.
The lesson from Rewind's shutdown
Rewind users had until December 19, 2025 to export their history before it was deleted. An acquisition they had no say in ended the product.
If your memory lives on someone else's servers, it lasts exactly as long as their business plan does. Cloud-stored history is the part you can lose overnight.
Recordings written as files on your own disk survive any vendor outcome — including ours. That's the main reason to prefer a local-first tool for this category.
